From: BJ Black To: xxxxx@abc.ca.gov Subject: FAQ Re: Identification Is Out of Date Hi there! On your website, FAQ 74 reads: --cut here-- Q. 74. What is documentary evidence of age and identity? A. To be suitable as evidence for a defense, the identification card must be issued by a governmental agency and have a current description and a picture of the person presenting it which reasonably describes the person as to date of birth weight, height, sex and color of eyes and hair. No defense will exist if the card has obviously been altered or has expired. A registration certificate issued under the Federal Selective Service Act is no longer considered documentary evidence of age, identity and date of birth. (Section 25660) --cut here-- (from http://www.abc.ca.gov/questions/enforcement_faq.html#Q.%2074.) In light of the recent changes to Section 25660 that explicitly allow the use of a domestic or foreign passport, this is now out of date. I would humbly suggest that the addition of domestic and foreign passports, including the relatively new US Passport Card, be added to this and all related documentation. I've recently had a discussion with Safeway corporate regarding their recent refusal to accept my Passport Card as valid ID and, as a result, have done extensive research regarding both the traditional- and card-form US Passports. My research is available via http://schmong.org/blog/node/113 should you need. Thank you for your time. William J. Black P.S. I am not an attorney by trade and this email should not be construed as legal advice. I'm just a concerned citizen and huge fan of the Passport Card.
